About The Cape Breton Speed Skating Club
- The Cape Breton Speed Skating Club skates out of the Canada Games Complex in Sydney, Cape Breton
- We have a mix of new skaters and those that are highly competitive
speed skaters who are training towards making the provincial team and Canada
Games team.
- Male and female athletes from other sports are also welcome to join in order to improve their skating skills, whether it is to skate for the fun of it or to test your speed and tactics against other speed skaters.
- Due to our low numbers, there are strong prospects for skaters between the age of 14 and 19 (in 2010) to represent Nova Scotia at the Canada Games in 2011, if certain criteria are met.
Registration Details
We skate Monday nights from 7:30 to 9:00pm and the cost is $ 500.00 for the year or two equal payments of $250 for (October-December) and $250 for (January-March). Competitive skaters can skate every other Thursday at 6:30 - 7:30 AM at an additional cost. Fundraising opportunities are also available.
For those that are eligible, there is a national program that helps disadvantaged kids overcome the barriers preventing or limiting their participation in organized sport. KidSport™ Nova Scotia provides funding of up to $300/year/child for sport registration and/or equipment. Click the
map to find out how to get in touch with the closest branch to you!
