Health and Safety is a Core Value of Speed Skate Nova Scotia:
Training and competition practices must protect skaters from injury, and be designed to ensure their long term health and well-being.
Speed Skating Canada has a Sport Injury and Medical Emergency Committee that has done extensive research into the best methods to ensure the safety of athletes participating in all of the different speed skating disciplines. Guidance with respect to crash protection, protective equipment, and concussions is provided on their Safety web page. Information on the latest developments in speed skating safety research is available in this webinar.
