  • Track your laps during the noon hour public skates every Friday in February.
  • Timing chips will be provided at no cost, all that's needed is to provide a piece of valid government-issued photo ID.
  • Results will be tracked electronically and posted on the MyLaps Sport Timing website.

Learn to Speed Skate at the Emera Oval

*Program is currently full. Please e-mail for alternative programs/information* 

Learn to speed skate on the oval Saturday mornings from 10:15am - 11:00am. There are 6 sessions in total- January 9, 23, 30, February 6, 13, 20.  Speed skates are provided at no charge, helmets are required and can also be borrowed from the free rental inventory at the oval.  Seasonal membership in Speed Skating Canada and Speed Skate Nova Scotia is required for the program. The fee for all 6 sessions (including SSC and SSNS fees) is only $10 and can be paid at the first session. 

Three age groups will be available-- Children 5-12, Youth 13-17, Adults 18+.
